Testimonials
My current achievements in the Japanese language would have been impossible without Fujii Sensei! I have been a student of Fujii Sensei’s for four years, including two years of intensive work. She is an extremely caring and knowledgeable teacher, who can clearly identify a student’s struggles and later walk them through these struggles in detail.
I initially needed help as I was struggling with my IB (International Baccalaureate) A-Level Japanese course. I had around 2 years of self-taught experience but it certainly wasn’t enough for the amount of work the course entailed. Fujii Sensei’s teaching is well-paced and she treats each lesson with care, preparing well ahead based on the student’s progress. She is flexible with her schedule and can deliver quality classes both in-person and online. Over the years I have participated in two provincial Japanese Speech contests and have passed my JLPT N2. These are achievements that could have not been possible without Fujii Sensei’s help.
I would certainly recommend Fujii Sensei to any of my friends looking to learn Japanese. She is a fantastic teacher and friend, and I hope to continue to study with her.

Fujii Sensei has been extremely helpful and supportive for my Japanese studies. Having finished high-school Japanese classes, I wished to advance my Japanese skills and to speak the language fluently. Fujii Sensei has been very encouraging and open with our Japanese conversations. She always incorporated relevant topics from our conversations into the actual lessons, which helped me to quickly understand the concepts. I would not have passed my JLPT N2 without Fujii Sensei’s interactive and well-organized lessons. Fujii Sensei is a very caring, responsible, and supportive teacher and friend. Studying Japanese with her has been a blast, and I would love to introduce her to anyone who wishes to learn Japanese.

To me, Fujii Sensei means more than just a Japanese teacher—also a mentor, who enlightened my journey toward learning Japanese. Not only are her classes fun and enjoyable, Fujii Sensei also works hard to prepare according to the student’s needs, to ensure that each and every lesson is worth the time. At the very beginning, my goal was merely to be able to watch anime without subtitles. However, as I moved along the pathway of learning Japanese, Fujii Sensei showed me the beauty of the language—its history, how it has been influenced by other languages, idioms and puns that not many people know about—which made me fall deeper in love with it.
Throughout my three years of learning Japanese with Fujii Sensei, she had always encouraged me to take on contests and exams, not only to challenge myself but also to enhance my resume, both for work and for university applications. Only after entering university did I find out that the AP exam Fujii Sensei encouraged me to take can actually be transferred into credits. That is a blessing for me, considering post-secondary tuition fees, as I now have one less class to take. By the end of 3rd year, I was able to pass JLPT-N1 (the highest-level Japanese proficiency test) which broadens my career opportunities, especially when it comes to working for Japanese corporations overseas. I would recommend her to anyone that is interested in Japanese, or even those that just wants to know more about the language and the country.

I would like to express my gratitude and thankfulness to Fujii Sensei for all her support in learning Japanese.
I was student for three years high school. She is knowledgeable, kind, understanding, supportive, and detail-oriented. She is able to make course schedules based on students’ abilities and needs, to help them achieve their goals effectively. I passed JLPT N2 and N1, and got a grade 5 for AP Japanese while taking lessons with Fujii Sensei.
She not only focuses on textbook knowledge that prepares for the exams, but also teaches students how to apply that knowledge. She encouraged me to practice orally during lessons, which made me feel comfortable not only during the exams but also in communicating in Japanese. She encouraged me to participate in the provincial Japanese Speech contest, and helped me revise my script, corrected my intonation, and provided advice on potential improvements. Our effort, in the end, enabled me to win first place in the BC Annual Japanese Speech Contest (high school intermediate division) organized by the Consulate General of Japan. I would not have reached such a great accomplishment in my Japanese learning journey without all her efforts in teaching.
I would definitely recommend Fujii Sensei to anyone who has an interest in learning Japanese. The lesson will be enjoyable, informative and well-structured. Everybody will like her!

Foreign languages have become my specialty!
French is my native language, and all my education through high school was in French. With Fujii Sensei’s encouragement, I did everything I could to develop Japanese proficiency during high school. First, I took JLPT N2, and two years later passed the highest level, N1. I got grade 5 in AP Japanese, and a perfect score in SAT Japanese. In the British Columbia Japanese Speech Contest (hosted by the Consulate General of Japan in Vancouver) I won the high school open division, and was awarded a voucher for travel to Japan from a local Japanese travel agency. And of course I was able to present all these achievements in my university applications.
I speak Japanese at home; however, thanks to Fujii Sensei, I was able to demonstrate my Japanese ability in an official way, intensively and efficiently. Teacher Fujii arranged the schedule for all exams, and the result dates, to be ready for my university application in the fall of my Grade 12 year. I could never organized all of these events while I was busy doing so many other activities in high school.
During the summer just before the university started, I studied abroad in China. As I learned Chinese characters while studying Japanese, I found I am well-prepared to study Chinese. Learning Japanese brought me to the next step, learning Chinese, and I am currently studying intermediate-level Chinese at university. Last year I passed HSK Level 4, and could skip one level in my university Chinese course. I definitely want to take this advantage and improve my Chinese to be as good as my Japanese.
As a hobby, I am also studying Italian. For me, foreign languages are not just my passion, but have become my professional specialty. I am so glad to discover my ability in this field, and I thank Fujii Sensei who initially opened this door for me.

Online learning makes it so easy and efficient! It’s fun, too!
My friend introduced me to Fujii Sensei, and I have been studying Japanese with her online since 2019. I started with あいうえお, the basic characters. I am learning kanji now. I have loved Japanese manga and anime ever since I was a child, and my happiest moment is when I understand the Japanese phrases that I heard in anime.
I found Japanese grammar is systematic, and once I know the rules it is easy to understand. The phonetic system is simple. I am sure that Fujii Sensei is making it easy. Also, Fujii Sensei’s method of correcting pronunciation is uniquely easy to understand because she teaches Japanese intonation as music. I studied music for many years, and her explanation clicked perfectly with my musical understanding.
Fujii Sensei is a very good listener and creates a warm and comfortable atmosphere during class. I like online private lessons, because I can study Japanese from home, and also—very importantly—late at night. I live in Europe and my night time is Vancouver’s afternoon time. It works well for both of us! Booking is also easy and she has flexible time slots open.
I would like to continue studying Japanese with Fujii Sensei, and in the near future I want to go to Japan for shopping, or visiting Ghibli movie locations, or for the Tokyo Olympic games in 2021 maybe?
