About Me
Kate Fujii - Certified Japanese Teacher
Hello everyone! My name is Kate Fujii, a certified Japanese teacher with over 25 years of experience. Born and raised in Japan, I have been living outside of Japan for many years, and moved to Vancouver, Canada in 2010.
I have taught Japanese to non-Japanese students in Japan, the United States, France, and now in Canada. My students are from all over the world. I am very happy to know that the number of people who want to learn Japanese is increasing each year. I hope by learning the Japanese language, people have a better understanding of the culture, which allows us to understand each other even better on a global scale. While I am teaching I am also learning many things from my students. Every day I learn something new; that is the best part of being a Japanese teacher.
I worked as a financial analyst right after my graduation from the University of North Carolina in the US. Later I worked as an administrative assistant in the branch office of a Japanese manufacturing company in France, and as a study abroad counsellor in Canada.
All my work experience is related to Japan and I am therefore quite familiar with the “Japanese way” of interaction in the work place. This knowledge has become invaluable to my students and I’m thrilled to pass it on. Some of my former students have gone to Japan to study or work. It is always my pleasure to keep in touch with these and other former students. They are now my friends!
Whether you want to learn Japanese for the first time, improve your Japanese, pass a proficiency test, raise your GPA at school, participate in a speech contest, or do business with Japanese clients, I am here for you. I teach students at all levels and all ages—the only requirement is a sincere desire to learn.
